15 years ago, tree nursery Carolus helped to develop the V-hedge system regarding the pear cultivation. This system has been developed in order to reduce the work pressure in the orchard. This remarkable tree shape has the highest possible production (80 tons instead of 40 tons concerning Conference). This type of tree is nowadays still a great alternative for the traditional system. Growers who want to try this system, can always count on expert advice.
In 2004 tree nursery Carolus developed the "Sprinttree" in the pear cultivation. At the development of this type of tree, the production (already from the second growth year a good production is achieved) and the investment during planting (this system is often used for "Tafelsysteem" [table system], a system of which the start cost are lower) were the most important.
In general, this means that the grower gets some more breading space. The amount of the investment is lower and an earlier yield allows to pay off the investment sooner.
